CAFI Appreciation of Chancellor's leadership

Dear Chancellor Matos Rodriguez:

On behalf of CUNY Alliance for Inclusion (CAFI), we would like to thank you for your forthright statement on the unprecedentedly barbaric attack unleashed on Israel by Hamas terrorists. Your firm condemnation of Hamas’ actions is a breath of fresh air in an atmosphere where our own union (PSC-CUNY) has adopted a shameful resolution condemning Israel for her efforts to defend herself against indiscriminate rocket attacks perpetrated by Hamas two years ago and has been silent since last week's brutal murders by Hamas terrorists of Israeli civilians - young people, the elderly, entire families including children. Your unequivocal support for Israel demonstrates clear leadership and is especially welcome in light of the timid responses to these atrocities issued by many leading educational institutions.  Your statement will hopefully force the students who’ve misguidedly joined groups expressing support for Hamas' actions to rethink their positions. We appreciate your brave stance towards defenders of Hamas’s brazen actions, especially within our CUNY community and we value your efforts to initiate a fair and balanced conversation about Israel and her relationship with her neighbors.
